Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was investigated whether there is a difference between the students staying with their families and students staying in the school hostel in terms of taking learning responsibilities. The "Learning Responsibility Scale" developed by Yakar and Saraçoğlu (2017) was used as a measurement tool. The scale was scored with a 5-point Likert type. 323 students (80 boys + 243 girls) participated in the research. When the literature is examined, the studies show that the students staying in the hostel differ socially, emotionally, and academically compared to the students staying with their families. In this study, the academic aspect is discussed. Since the age group to be studied is in the adolescence period, the characteristics of this period are also presented in the theoretical framework. Then, the concepts of hostel, learning, motivation, and responsibility are emphasized. According to the findings of this study, the level of taking learning responsibility of the students who stay with their families is higher than students who stay at school hostels, etc. Gender and school type are influencing factors in the ability to take responsibility. Female students are more likely to take responsibility than male students, and Anatolian high school students are more likely to take responsibility than other high school students.
