Abstract (EN)
Realizing that energy resources are not unlimited and the importance of leaving a livable environment to future generations has led designers to make environmentally friendly designs and to seek alternative ways to use energy instead of fossil resources. On the other hand, developments in the field of technology have given architecture the 'ability to move' and led architecture to more effective dynamic results from the usual static static solutions. Just as a living thing needs to be able to adapt to environmental conditions and changing climatic conditions in order to survive, the situation is the same for buildings. Buildings with kinetic façades are more efficient as they can adapt to changing climatic and environmental conditions. In addition, kinetic facades increase the climatic comfort of the building, provide visual comfort, and help reduce heating-cooling costs, as they provide the daylight balance inside the building. Kinetic facades today have become complex products with a large number of parts expected to perform different functions. It is very difficult and time consuming for the designer to design these complex products with the imagination and traditional design methods. At this point, while parametric tools provide real-time search and control over the design, analysis tools make it possible to guide the design process to reach the most appropriate solution and establish a feedback loop in the design process. In this thesis, an intelligent kinetic façade system was designed on the facade of an existing office building in Konya by using the Rhino/Grasshopper tool and Honeybee and Ladybug plugins, which are parametric design tools. The study focuses on the evaluation of the effect of the kinetic facade on the energy, daylight and glare performance in the office building by simulation method. As a result, it has been concluded that the kinetic front reduces the energy use intensity, EUI, and reduces the energy consumption spent on cooling in summer by approximately 35%. With the addition of the kinetic front, it was observed that the disturbing glare was completely avoided at the specified dates and times in the DGP value, which is the possibility of daylight glare. In addition, the addition of the kinetic front showed positive results in DA, cDA and sDA values in annual daylight measurements. When the average of the sDA values for all the floors was calculated, the kinetic front decreased the sDA value by 19%. On the other hand, it has been observed that the UDI values, which are useful daylight brightness levels, decrease in places with a lighting value of more than 2500 lux, which can cause visual discomfort.
