Abstract (EN)

Family, the oldest institute in the history, fulfills some functions which are vitallyimportant for the society. Renewing the population, being an economic unit, transferringculture, educating and preparing the children for the society are among these functions. Achild gets his/her education, becomes socialized and acquire a healthy identity best in a familyenvironment. The breakup of the family due to either deaths or divorces affects the childrennegatively. With the breakup of the family, the education and socialization process of thechildren ceases and prevents him/her from being a healthy adult. Therefore, the breakup of thefamily causes some social problems for the children.Driven by these considerations, this study consists of two parts. In the first part of thestudy, theoretical information about the family and factors causing the breakup of family hasbeen presented. In the second part, the findings obtained from the application have beenassessed. The application involves totally 560 children, of whom 280 have a broken familyand the other 280 have a united family.
