Multidimensional analysis of social skill levels of children having broken families

In this thesis; Social skill levels of children having broken families are analysed. Firstly, it is referred to the importance of family concept. Turkish family structure and the importance of family for children are mentioned. Age progress of primary school kids and expected social skill levels are noticed, too. In this thesis, the effects of having broken families on social skill development are examined. The dependent variable of this thesis is social behaviour of primary school children. The independent variables are gender, age, type of school, grade of class, educational level of mother, educational level of father, family togetherness, frequency of seeing mother, frequency of seeing father, job status of mother, job status of father, mother's level of income, father's level of income and level of income for the family. This research was applied to the students having education in both private and state schools in İstanbul, Ataşehir. 179 of these students are attending state schools. 141 of these students are attending private schools. 139 of these are female students. 181 of these are male students. The data collection method "School Social Behaviour Scale (SSBS)" which was prepared by Müge Yukay YÜKSEL is utilized to measure social competence and negative school behaviour of primary children. Furthermore, the Personal Information Form which is developed by the researcher, was used to obtain the data about the students. The Scale and Personal Information Form were filled in by class teachers. The complied data was assessed using the help of SPSS 12 packet programme.
