Abstract (EN)

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the relationship between impulse control disorders that can occur with dopamine replacement therapy in Parkinson's disease with chronotypes, drugs used, sleep, and quality of life. Material\Methods: Patients with Parkinson's disease (n=132) who received dopamine replacement therapy were evaluated for impulse control disorders, morningness-eveningness, depression, daytime sleepiness, quality of life, and sleep quality. Demographic data and pharmacologic treatments of the patients were also recorded. Results: The frequency of impulse control disorders was higher in the male gender and among those who used cigarettes and alcohol. It was determined that compulsive sexual behavior disorder was more common in individuals with intermediate-evening chronotype. It was observed that there was no difference between the frequency of impulse control disorders and sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, and quality of life in Parkinson's patients. Conclusion: Impulse control disorders and circadian rhythm changes that may develop due to the use of dopamine agonists in Parkinson's patients may lead to an emerging vicious circle. The results obtained from this thesis study need to be supported by studies conducted in larger patient populations.
