Prof Dr. Fatih ÖZCANThis Ph.D. study presents an experimental investigation on the effect ofbinary, ternary and quartet combinations of fly ash (FA), silica fume (SF), groundgranulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) and portland cement (PC) on workability, compressive strength, flexural strength, abrasion strength and shrinkage of mortars. All the mixtures were prepared with 0.5 water/binder ratio. According to results ofcompressive, flexural and abrasion strength, it is observed that for binary mixtures%5-%30 FA, %5-%20 SF and %5-%50 GBFS can be used as mineral additive forcement and concrete. After 1 year PC+SF+FA, PÇ+SF+GBFS and quarted mortarsshow %1-%13, %2-%9 and %2-%15 higher compressive strength than control mixrespectively. The abrasion strength of mortars was generally better at longer periods. In all mortars fly ash decreased and silica fume increased the shrinkage of mortars.Key Words: Fly ash, Silica fume, Ground granulated blast furnace slag, Strength,ShrinkageII
