Psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the scale of adherence to ethic codes for pediatric nurses

Aim: This study was conducted to evaluate the psychometric consistency of the Turkish version of the Pediatric Nurses' Adherence to Ethical Codes Scale. Material and Methot: This is a methodological study. The study population consisted of pediatric nurses working in pediatric wards of university or state hospitals in four major cities located in eastern and western Turkey. The sample consisted of 313 pediatric nurses working in pediatric wards who met the study criteria. Data were collected between January and August 2024. A descriptive form and the Pediatric Nurses' Adherence to Ethical Codes Scale were used to collect the research data. Content and construct validity, item analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and internal consistency were used to evaluate the data. Results: The mean age of the nurses was 28.42±5.86, and 75.1% were female. It was found that 54.6% of the nurses had worked as nurses for 1-5 years, 63.6% had worked as pediatric nurses for 1-5 years, 90.4% had worked as ward nurses, and 59.7% worked both day and night shifts. When expert opinions were analyzed, the content validity index of the scale was calculated as 0.94. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated as 0.973. The item-total test correlation values of all items were found to be between 0.534 and 0.850. The factor loadings of all items were found to be between 0.563 and 0.915. The scale was found to have an acceptable fit with an RMSEA fit index of 0.075 and an excellent fit with a χ2 (Cmin/df) of 2.734. Conclusion: The Turkish version, developed to assess pediatric nurses' compliance with ethical rules, is acceptable and has good reliability and validity. 2025, 59 Pages Keywords: Adherence, Ethical Rules, Validity And Reliability, Pediatric Nurse.
