Abstract (EN)
Objective: The main aim of the study was to assess the effects of training (visual and auditory feedback) on the adequacy of resuscitation. Method: We trained 31 research assistants working at the Department of Child Health and Diseases of the Simulation Center of the Faculty of Medicine at Akdeniz University. The depths to which the chest were compressed and the number of pressure applications during 2 min of resuscitation were recorded. One week after initial assessment, 5 min of hands-on training (including individual visual and auditory feedback) was given. After initial evaluation, we determined if the desired educational goals had been attained. Results: The compression depth increased from 4.44 ± 0.86 to 4.71 ± 0.90 cm after training, and the total number of compressions fell from 179 ± 24 to 168 ± 26, but these changes were not significant. The number of pressure applications approached the target rate after training. Conclusion: A total of 5 min of individual visual and auditory feedback influenced the quality of resuscitation and increased the number of compressions attaining the target rate and depth. However, the recommended rate and depth were not in fact attained, and indeed, the total rates were adversely affected. To develop an ideal training method, it is necessary to compare the results of repetitive in-service training and those of other educational methods (e.g., using a metronome).
