Street as a performance space: Street musicians in beyoglu istanbul

In this study, street music practices, which are frequently encountered in recent years, are examined in the area of İstiklal Street which is located in Beyoğlu district of İstanbul province where street music is the most common in our country and which can be considered as the center of the European side of the city. In the first part, the history of street music and metropolitan cities where the most popular street music practices are encountered are examined. In the second part, street music is tried to be discussed in the context of space-music relation. In the third chapter, the street music practices and musicians are explained in the Beyoğlu-İstiklal Caddesi, in which is the area of our study. Literature review was performed for the study, and the data obtained from observations and interviews in the field were interpreted.
