Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, with the frequent use of implants in dental deficiencies, the number of peri-implanter diseases has increased. Peri-implanter diseases are also inflammatory diseases such as periodontal diseases (PD). Oxidative stress has been seen as a factor in PD and many oxidative stress markers have been examined in disease and health. The aim of our study is to investigate the effect of peri-implanter diseases on the peri-implanter sulcus fluid oxidative stress markers. 14 samples diagnosed as peri-implant healthy, 15 samples diagnosed as peri-implant mucositis and 15 samples diagnosed as peri-implantitis were included in the study. Periodontal clinical measurements (plaque index (PI), probing pocket depth (SCD), gingival index (GI), bleeding on probing (BOP), modified plaque index (mPI), modified bleeding index (mKI)) and peri-implant sulcus fluid (PIOS) samples were taken from the patients. Statistical analysis of the samples were performed with Shapiro Wilk test, Mann Whitney U test and Chi square test. In our study, the total oxidant status (TOS) parameter was found statistically significantly higher in the peri-implantitis group compared to the peri-implant healthy group. In terms of total antioxidant status (TAS) and oxidative stress index (OSI) parameters, there was no statistically significant difference between the groups. It can be said according to the results of our study that peri-implantitis will increase TOS due to its inflammatory character. In order to understand the potential role of oxidative stress markers in peri-implant inflammation, multicentre, more detailed further studies are needed in which samples from peri-implant healthy, peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis regions are evaluated.
