Intertextual narrative structure of fairy tales in latest fantastic Hollywood movies

Abstract (EN)

This paper presents how the narrative structure of the fairy tale adaptations which are re-telling in latest Hollywood movies has changed. The main focus of the paper is on how the intertextual narrative methods are used recently adopted fairy tales movies, which has been done through examining their usage in fairy tales and emphasizing their impacts on the differentiation process. In this paper, primarily some concepts such as fantastic, fairy tales, intertextuality and postmodernizm are explained. Fairy tales adopted to movies from which examplifications are taken have been analyzed according to Greimas' Narrative Graph model. Then, it is determined that how the narratives that go through intertextual process diversify the plots, how characters transform and how intertextual method and images are used in differentiation process in the movies from which examplifications are taken. In the conclusion part, an evaluation about the differentiating points in the re-adopted fairy tales and causes of these differences under the light of the data obtained. Hence, mentions about how Hollywood movies handle the fairy tale narratives recently are stated. Keywords: Fantastic, Fairy Tales, Narration, Hollywood Movies, Intertextuality, Postmodernism
