Abstract (EN)
This research was carried out to determine the effect of the music listened to before the Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) procedure on the anxiety levels of individuals. The population of the study consisted of 270 individuals with coronary artery disease and/or ischemic heart disease who were treated in the Coronary Angiography Unit of a public hospital and planned for elective PTCA, and the sample consisted of 160 patients who agreed to participate in the study and met the inclusion criteria. The patients were randomized and divided into 4 groups as control group (40 people), experiment I (40 people-ney music), experiment II (40 people-classical music), and experiment III (40 people-meditation music). The patients were listened to music before the procedure. Data were collected through the general information form, the State Anxiety Inventory, and the Trait Anxiety Inventory. In the evaluation of the data, Pearson correlation test, One-way Annova test, paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test were used as well as descriptive statistical analyses. 69.4% of the patients with a mean age of 51.14 ± 8.59 were male. Although it was observed that the anxiety score of the patients decreased after the procedure compared to the pre-procedure, it was determined that there was no significant difference according to the type of music played to the patients before the procedure. It was determined that the marital status of the patients affected the state anxiety score in the flute group. It was determined that the trait anxiety score decreased in the patients who expressed that listening to music relieved them when they were anxious in the group in which classical music was desired. As the processing time increased in the control group; In the classical music group, it was determined that the anxiety score increased as the number of previous PTCA applications increased. It is recommended to repeat the study with a larger sample and to consider factors such as individual characteristics, music preference of the individual, other diseases present in the patient, and socio-demographic characteristics of the place where the study will be conducted.
