Determination of landscape protection and development strategies in antalya boğaçayi basin landscape character and landscape function analyseswith

As a result of the rapid increase in the world population, the need for food and raw materials is increasing, which creates great pressure on natural resources and endangers the sustainability of resources. Natural and cultural landscapes may lose their qualities as a result of the pressures they face. Therefore, it is important to develop strategies for the protection and development of landscapes. The characters of landscapes and the functions they undertake are decisive in the development of these strategies. In this study, landscape characters and functions are addressed at the basin scale. In the study carried out in the example of Antalya Boğaçayı Sub-basin, the landscape character types of the basin were determined; landscape function analyses were carried out in the context of 15 landscape character types representing the basin. The 15 landscape functions addressed in the context of the land's capacity to produce ecosystem services were calculated separately for each landscape character type. In addition, the entire study area was evaluated in terms of total function, agricultural products function, commercial forest products function, recreation and tourism function were analyzed in more detail using quality parameters. The results obtained from the study show that 40% of the basin has high importance in terms of 15 landscape functions. The majority of these areas of high importance consist of agricultural areas, forests and semi-natural areas. Boğaçayı stream bed is also among the areas with high functional importance. It was determined that 8% of the basin had a high function value in terms of agricultural products function and 16% in terms of commercial forest products function where net primary production (NPP) was used as the quality parameter. Two importance maps were prepared for the basin in terms of recreation and tourism function where Shannon diversity index and forest patch heterogeneity index were used as the quality parameters. In the light of the data obtained from the study, suggestions were made for the protection and development of Boğaçayı Sub-basin landscapes.
