Examination of computer aided programs in landscape architecture in botanical design "as an example of examination of Duzce University Botanical Garden"

When the invention of the computers began, they took up the size of a room. Later, in 2010s, computers became small enough to fit into small cases and their function became more effective. Computers brought both many easiness and benefits. They are used in every field of our lives as well as landscape architecture. Today, computer-aided programs are gradually being used instead of traditional presentation techniques. Because, with some programs, the desired things can be designed appropriately and with the visuals made, more realistic and interesting results can be obtained. In this thesis study, it is examined that the determination of the effects of rapidly developing and progressing computer and communication technologies on the landscape architecture design process, especially emphasizing of the importance and necessity of current two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) programs in visual presentation techniques and also the advantages and disadvantages of computer technology in angle of botanical design. The objective of this thesis study is to examine the stages of use of visualization technology, the degree of difficulty in use and the need for it, and the application potential in landscape and environmental planning. In this study, the preferred programs used in the design process were evaluated with examples. In this regard, firstly scientific researches and current applications in the literature have been examined, surveys were conducted for landscape architecture students using these applications and specific companies in order to get expert opinions. After obtaining all the results, a general survey was conducted and it evaluated in terms of international validity.
