Özet (EN)

Shell and tube heat exchangers are commonly used exchanger type in the industry. Some of the biggest advantages are easily available from the market and it can be designed and operated according to high temperature and pressure values. It can be manufactured with a wide range of materials allowing them to be operated in a wide range of processes. It is also easy to maintain and repair. The body tube heat exchangers consist of a cylindrical body and tubes parallel to each other. One fluid passes through the pipes and the other passes through the body. The main parts; pipes bundle, body, mirror and covers. In this study, a shell and tube heat exchanger manufactured with a diameter of 90 mm and length of 710 mm was used. 30 flat copper heat transfer pipes were used for this heat exchanger which have 7 stainless steel baffles. The pipes have a diameter of 9,52 mm and a wall thickness of 0,50 mm and have a 30 ° C triangular array. Total heat transfer surface area is 0,58 m2. Mirror, cover and body are carbon steel. Two 45 liter carbon steel tanks, temperature control devices, thermocouples, heaters and water pumps are the other components of the installed system. A program was writen in which temperature/time data of fluids were collected and fluid temperatures were controlled by PID control technique. Appropriate PID coefficients for the system were determined as a result of experiments. The experiments were made by changing the flow, temperature and tube pass numbers with the determined PID coefficients and the results were graphed. Heat exchanger simulation studies were conducted with Delaware method written in Matlab environment. Heat exchanger is also designed with Unilab package program. It was operated at the specified temperature and flow rates. Experimental results were compared with Unilab and matlab results.
