Comparison of phenological, morphological and agronomical traits in reciprocal crosses of recombinant inbred lines of pisum sativum x p. elatius

Abstract (EN)

Recombinant inbred lines (RILs) is one of the most used materials in molecular and breeding studies. This study was aimed to compare for phonological, morphological and agronomical traits in RILs derived from reciprocal interspecific crosses between Pisum sativum (cultivated pea) and P. elatius (wild pea). RILs and their parents were sown with hand in rows of 2 m length with 50 cm row spacing and 10 cm plant spacing on 16 September 2015. Number of germination, quantity of chlorophyll (SPAD), plant height, number of pods per plant, pod length, number of seeds per pod, seed and biological yields, harvest index and 100-seed weight in RILs derived from interspecific crosses between P sativum and P. elatius were recorded as, 5- 15 no, 29-45 SPAD, 26-97 cm, 1-10 no, 3-5 cm, 3-7 no, 0.1-43.2 g, 20-320 g, 0.1-17.4%, and 0.2- 18 g, respectively. Number of germination, plant height, number of pods per plant, pod lenght, number of seeds per pod, quantity of chlorophyll (SPAD), seed and biological yields, harvest index and 100-seed weight in RILs derived from interspecific crosses between P. elatius and P sativum were determined as, 7-14 no, 29-54 SPAD, 18-84 cm, 1-15 no, 3-7 cm, 2-8 no, 0.2-10.5 g, 20-490 g, % 0.6-19.4 and 1.3-14.7 g, respectively. Traits such as quantity of chlorophyll (SPAD), number of pods per plant, pod length, number of seeds per pod, biological yield and harvest index were found to be higher in RILs derived from interspecific crosses between P sativum (cultivated pea) and P. elatius (wild pea), whereas plant height, seed yield and 100-seed weight were detected to be higher in RILs derived from interspecific crosses between P. elatius (wild pea) and P sativum (cultivated pea). Transgressive segregations were found in interspecific crosses. The cultivated pea could be selected male or female parents in interspecific crosses according to traits to be improved.
