Abstract (EN)

PKK is an ethnic terrorist organization that started its first structuring in Ankara Çubuk in 1973 and started its operations in Diyarbakır Lice on 27 November 1978 under the name of Karkeren Kurdistan. The PKK targeted security forces and civilian people from 1978 until 2002, when it changed its name. Accordingly, it has carried out activities in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Regions. The PKK terrorist organization carried out its first systematic attack in Eruh District of Siirt in 1984. The organization started to carry out village massacres in 1985 and accelerated these massacres in 1987. In 1989, it started mass action. In 1990, the organization extended its armed actions to wider areas. In 1992, it attempted to revolt three times and these attempts were prevented by the Turkish State. The massacres of the organization increased in 1993 and at the end of the same year, the organization requested a ceasefire with the struggle of the Turkish Army. This ceasefire did not last long and the organization started its attacks again in April of the same year. From the end of 1993 to the end of 1994, the Turkish Army largely destroyed the PKK, and the military wing of the PKK terrorist organization was smashed by the Steel Operation in 1995 and the Hammer Operation in 1997. In 1998, the capture process of Abdullah Öcalan, the head of the organization, was initiated, and on 15 February 1999, the organization was neutralized with the capture of Abdullah Öcalan. In 2002, the PKK changed its name to KADEK.
