Abstract (EN)

OBJECTIVE: The aim of our study was to compare the serum concentrations of kisspeptin-10 in healthy pregnant women and pregnant women in whom placental insufficiency results in preeclampsia or fetal growth restriction, and to determine its relationship with pregnancies complicated with placental insufficiency and to determine whether there is a marker useful in predicting these results. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study was designed as a cross-sectional study. Study group comprises 80 pregnant women. 40 has preeclampsia and/or FGR. Cases were selected from the pregnant women admitted to Uludağ University Medical Faculty Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics Outpatient Clinics between January 2018 and January 2019. Kisspeptin levels were detected by ELISA method. Statistical studies were performed by using SPSS 21.0. RESULTS: Kisspeptin levels were found to be 37.45 (5.80 - 1087.59) ng / L in the patient group and 46.79 (1.10 - 1075.77) ng / L in the control group. The mean kisspeptin level was lower in the patient group than the control group, but there was no statistically significant difference between the patient and control groups in terms of serum kisspeptin levels (p = 0.358). Correlation analysis revealed a positive correlation between Kisspeptin level and 1st and 5th minute Apgar scores (respectively; r 0,412; r 0,372) in the patient group. At the 1st minute and 5th minute Apgar scores were lower (Apgar <7) and babies were evaluated separately. Serum kisspeptin levels had a specificity of 76.9% and a sensitivity of 74.63% at the cut-off level of 30.64 ng / L for the 1st minute low Apgar score (p = 0.0006). Similarly, Serum kisspeptin levels had a specificity of 76.9% and a sensitivity of 74.63% at the cut-off level of 30.64 ng / L for the 5th minute low Apgar score (p = 0.0144). CONCLUSION: Further studies with larger numbers of cases are needed to determine whether kisspeptin levels measured during pregnancy are useful as a marker for predicting pregnancies associated with poor placentation, such as fetal growth restriction or preeclampsia.
