Abstract (EN)

Extrusion is one of the most common methods of processing plastics. Plastic pipe production is one of extrusion process and has been used widely in nowadays. This method provides many advantages.Thermoelectric cooling is a new controllable heat transfer method, however, which is used only experimental studies. This method has been used for only small process and hasn?t been used for industrial applications yet.This study includes basic information of plastics, extrusion methods and extrusion equipment parts. Main themes are, plastic pipe calibrating sleeves, cooling-control systems of calibrating sleeves and thermoelectric cooling and its application for calibrating sleeves.Basic information of extrusion material, process and equipment has been given in the first and following two chapters. In the fourth and fifth chapter, plastic material extrusion process, heat transfer analysis and control principles of the system have been determined. Other chapter, thermoelectric cooling systems has been explained and thermoelectric calculation has been made. Last chapter include, a new thermoelectric cooling device and control application.During the production in plastic pipe extruders the polymer which is leaving die at avarage 200-220 °C temperature, can not be enough cooled at calibrators, in which it enters to solidify. However the cooling is insufficient in existing systems. The new thermoelectric cooling calibrator device provides to cool the pipe short distances depending on pipe velocity and using minimum power for cooling.On the last chapter, a new calibrator was designed dependent on theoretical heat transfer and thermoelectric calculations. New calibrator was cooled with thermoelectric modules and was controlled with a system. As a result of experimental study, we recognized that the calibrator-cooling and control system worked without any problem and the system obtained all desired performance criterions.
