Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, it was aimed to make an economic analysis of green pepper production in the plastic greenhouse, to estimate the technical efficiency and the determinants of inefficiency, to determine the costs of plastic greenhouse construction and to determine the feasibility of the greenhouse investment. According to the results of the research, the gross production value of green pepper production in the plastic greenhouse was calculated as 13.140,55 TL/da, gross profit was 3.111,96 TL/da, absolute profit was calculated as 1077.36 TL/da and the relative profit was 1.09. The average technical efficiency was estimated as 0.905 with the data envelopment analysis and the 0.960 stochastic boundary analysis. The similarities and differences of the predicted technical efficiency scores with two different methods were examined and it was determined that the technical efficiency scores estimated by the two methods were generally consistent. According to the results of tobit regression analysis, it was determined that the variables of land size, extension, non-agricultural income, cooperative partnership, credit usage, financial and physical record keeping, and soil analysis were significant effects on the technical efficiency scores of enterprises. The coefficients of the technical inefficiency determinants had the signs that corresponded to the expectations. The cost of plastic greenhouse construction in the research area was determined as 23.500,00 TL/da and the greenhouse investment repayment period 7.42 years, breakeven point production amount 6.050.25 kg/da, benefit/cost ratio 1.097, net present value 1.161,26 TL and the internal rate of return was calculated as 0.21.
