Acute responses and elimination durations of plasma ammonia, pH and total blood lactate levels to the single bout of muscular hypertrophy exercise

Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to determine the levels of plasma NH3 (NHj+NH»*) that is thought to be the reason for central nervous system and peripheral fatigue, their variation level in the blood as total blood lactate (TBL) and plasma pH during the interval of muscular hypertrophy which covers up a session of 60 minutes and also determines their period of returning to the resting level after physical exrcise. All participants were voluntary male athletes, ages between 22±2 years, weights between 73.6±5.6kgs and heights between 173.8±8.22cms and they have got a resistance training background for two years without missing their resistance exercises for the last two months. A single bout of 60 minutes muscular hypertrophy exercise is applied to this research. The blood samples were measured before and during the exercise at every 15 minutes and after the exercise at 0, 2nd, 7th, 12th,20th,30th, 60th and 120th minutes. Plasma NH3 was determined by dry chemical method, with "Vitros - 250" photometric auto vitros analyser. Plasma pH was measured with "Sartorius" pH meter. Total Blood Lactate was analysed by electro enzymatic method with "YSI 1500 Sport" lactate analyser. All of the values which have measured during exercise and recovery, statistically compared with their own resting level. Plasma NH3 values at rest were found as 28.66±12.17umol.r' and at the 45th minute of the exercise it reached its peak level as 167.91 ±63.95umoLl"1 (pO.Ol). At the end of the exercise it was 130.37±44.93umoLl*1 (p<0.05). At the 60th minute after the exercise it fell down to 30.5±21.16ujnoU"1 (p<0.05) and at the 120th minute it was recorded as 20.25±10.52umol.l"1 (p<0.05). Plasma pH values at rest were found as 7.4Ü8.61"2 at the 45th minute of the exercise it fell down to its lowest level of 7.24±8.52"2 (p<0.005). At the end of the exercise it was 7.25 ± 7.0 1"2 (p<0.05) and at the 20th minute after the exercise it was determined as 7.40±7.48'2 (p>0.05). The TBL resting values were found as USiO^SmmoU"1 and at the 45th minute of the exercise it reached its peak level as lOJlil/ZlmmoLl"1 (p<0.005). At the end of the exercise it was Ç.öTiO.SSmmoLr1 (p<0.05), and at the 120th minute it was 1.57±0.34mmoLr1 (p>0.05). From the statistical point of view the following sensible relations in terms of rates are determined: pO.0001, r = 0.942 between plasma NH3 and TBL. pO.001, r= -0.741 between plasma pH and NH3, p<0.005, r = -0.775 between plasma pH and TBL. In conclusion, plasma NH3 at 60th, pH at 20th and TBL at 120th minutes decreased to their own resting level during recovery
