Synthesis, characterization and determination of wastewater treatment performance of poly(diallyldimethylammonium modified)/vermiculite composite

Abstract (EN)
Textile is the industry branch that includes the stages of fiber to yarn, yarn to fabric production, and fabric to final product production. Textile industry; wastewater gives the reason for the formation of one of the important hazardous wastes that threaten the environment and people. Textile industry wastewater accumulates in aquatic environments, spoiling the appearance of colored water and reducing light penetration. The penetration of light and the structure of dissolved oxygen cause living things to cool down and restrict the storage of water. Simulations of paints are also known. Even in very small amounts, colored textile wastewater can spread over large water bodies because it has a high dispersion rate. Colored textile effluents threaten the environment when discharged without treatment. The composition of textile wastewater varies depending on operating conditions, various organic compounds used in the process, and the variety of inorganic-organic chemicals used in dyeing or other processes. Thus, COD, BOD, Ph, salinity and color etc. in wastewater. Pollution parameters are high and each different process applied makes it impossible to purify the resulting wastewater with a standard treatment method. In this thesis study, polydadmac/vermiculite composites were prepared by in situ polymerization method for the treatment of textile wastewater. Structural characterization of the prepared composites was examined by FT-IR and XRD analyses, and their morphological structures were investigated by SEM images. Afterwards, it was treated at different dosages for the treatment of textile wastewater, and instantaneous and 2-hour color and suspended solids values were determined by UV spectrophotometer. The highest efficiency was obtained with 300 ppm composite, the color value was measured as 148 Pt/Co units and the suspended solids value was measured as 36 mg/L. With Polidadmac, these values were determined as 257 Pt/Co units and 122 mg/L, respectively. When only raw vermiculite was used, it was 869 Pt/Co and 281 mg/L. These results showed that a synergistic effect was created in the preparation of the composite, and 1.7 and 5.8 times higher results were obtained in color removal compared to raw polymer and clay, respectively. The suspended additive value of the composite was 3.1 and 7.8 times lower than the raw polymer and clay, respectively. Thus, a less costly, more environmentally friendly and more effective product has been developed for the treatment of textile wastewater.
