Abstract (EN)
In this study, physical and chemical structure of Pol(ehtylene terephthalate) has been reviewed by exposing to hydrolitic degradation at different temperatures. Carboxyl end groups which have been occured by side reactions of formation and degradation of Poly(ethylene terephthalate) polymer decarboxylated and hence low carboxyl end groups containing polyesters have been obtained by adding an alkaline metal iodide and a copper salt. This research work clearly revealed that lowering carboxyl end groups by the help of simple and cost effective additives gave yield to decarboxylated Poly(ethylene terephthalate) with enhaced hydrolytic stability.
