Abstract (EN)
Objective:It is aimed to detect the relationship between depression, anxiety and sexual dysfunction in young women diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Material and Methods: Patients with PCOS (n: 288) and individuals without PCOS in control group (n: 180) were included in the study. Patients with PCOS were diagnosed based on Rotterdam criteria and with ultrasound examination performed on the third day of the cycle. Biochemical parameters, waist-hip measurements, height and weight of these patients were measured. The age, educational status, marital status, pregnancy-birth history, comorbidities, family history of the patients were asked. Modified Ferriman-Gallwey scores are noted. The McCoy female sexuality questionnaire (MFSQ), Beck depression and anxiety scales were distributed to the patients and the results were taken when they came again for control. Results: As a result of the comparisons of demographic, psychological, physical examination and biochemical parameters performed on the patients, it was seen that the educational status, income level and the number of follicles, which is an information obtained from the ultrasound examination, had an effect on sexual function. Demographic information shows that as the number of people living at home increases, the anxiety severity increases. It was found that those with additional diseases and smokers had a low Mc partnership score, while those with pregnancy had a low Mc sexuality score. Both Mc partnership and Mc sexuality values of patients with anxiety were found to be low. Similarly, these scores were found to be low in patients with depression. The reliability coefficients of McCoy sexuality and partnership criteria were calculated and the reliability of this test was demonstrated in Turkish women. Conclusion: Depression and anxiety negatively affect female sexual function in PCOS, both separately and together. For this reason, it is necessary to evaluate the patients not only clinic findings but also psychosexuality features in PCOS.
