In vivo evaluation of color stability of resin CAD/CAM materials

Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of the present study was investigation the color changes of hybrid ceramic, resin nano ceramic materials and acrylic resin artificial tooth materials in the dental market with different trade names and different contents in vivo. Method: The research was carried out with 16 volunteers who have just started using complete dentures. In the prostheses belonging to the volunteers, certain teeth were removed and replaced with hybrid ceramic (Vita Enamic (VITA Zahnfabrik, Bad Säckingen, Germany), resin nano-ceramic (Lava Ultimate; 3M ESPE, St.98034 Paul, ABD; Cerasmart GC Dental Products Europe, Leuven) teeth and one acrylic resin artificial tooth (Ivostar, Ivoclar Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein). Volunteers were asked to continue using their prosthesis and color measurements were made at the periodof 1, 3 and 6 months. Statistical analysis were performed using by SPSS statistic software (version v23.0, SPSS Inc. Chicago, ABD). Statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05. Results: There is no statistically significant difference between ΔE00 values of the four materials examined in the present study. However, when the data belonging to the 1st and 3rd months were examined, the values of all materials were observed below the clinically acceptable threshold value of ΔE00= 3.70. In the 6th month, the ΔE00 values of Lava Ultimate and acrylic artificial tooth materials remained below 3.7, while Cerasmart and Vita Enamic materials underwent a noticeable change in color in the clinic. Conclusions: Clinically color change differences were observed between the materials examined in the present study. However, there is a need for new clinical studies with different sample groups.
