Excessive vibrations affect the dynamic of systems adversely. In this respect, it is extremely important to know how the dynamic forces on machine elements affect the machine performances and reliability. For this reason the natural frequencies, mode shapes and damping properties of systems have to be determined by performing dynamic analysis on the system and the necessary preventions should be taken according to these results. Plate structures are widely used in many areas of engineering and it is very important to know the dynamic behaviours of structures like these and to reduce the existing vibration. In order to reduce the vibrations of a plate, some materials with high damping capability can be applied to one surface of it. Also, the sandvich structures are constituted by applying these materials between two plates. In this study, the absorbtion of vibration on the plates is aimed by using PU foam such that its production cost is low, it is extremely light in weight and it can be applied to systems easily. Also the effects of the reinforce thickness of PU foam on the dynamic properties of the plate were investigated by using experimental modal analysis method. Experimental results were verified by comparing those of obtained via ANSYS finite element software.
