The effect of the pop art on today?s printed advertisements and student’s design

Abstract (EN)

This research is established on the hypothesis of ?there is an effect of the pop art on today?s printed advertisements and graphic students? advertisements.? While the effect of the pop art on today?s printed advertisement was being, 10 printed advertisement examples which were used from 2001 to 2006 were analyzed in comparison with the pop art?s example. The scope of the research is composed of the high school students who are taking graphic education in 2006-2007 Academic year and sample is composed of 5 students who are chosen randomly from Ankara Cebeci Anatolian Vocational High School. When the effect of the pop art on students? design was searching, advertisement designs of 5 students were being examined. When the conceptual dimension was being constituted, documentary search method was chosen. Because of searching the effects on the printed advertisement, used advertisement samples were used for the research about the effects on the students? design were analyzed. At the end of the research, 1) In the printed advertisement samples which is compared with pop art samples , colors are lively usually, compositions are active and in some parts designs are made carelessly and popular face, concept or images are employed. It is benefited from the image of beautiful lady or macho man, the existence of obscenity and sexuality concepts, consumption elements, also casual elements or newspaper compositions which include the image of flag, newspaper pieces, cartoon, comic strip. As a result of this, today?s printed advertisements? designers are affected by pop art and this interaction impresses their designs. 2) The designs of 5 students in which the features of the pop art have been searched, show that colors are lively in four of them, compositions are active in five of them. Figures are located completely in one of them but in the other one figure are located haphazardly. The designs are made carelessly. Popular faces concepts and images are used completely in three of them whereas in one of them it is used partly. Beautiful lady and macho man images are employed in four of them in addition to that at least one of them is about the concepts of obscenity and sexuality, consumer elements, daily elements and the image of flag are used in 4 of them. In conclusion, students and students? designs are affected from the pop art.
