Abstract (EN)

This study analyzes the relationship between social media and religion in terms of popular culture through the community which is called as 'Sözler Köşkü'. The culture industry approach of the Frankfurt School is accepted as the definition of popular culture in this study. In the first chapter of the study, the concept of popular culture is explained and highlight two approaches to popular culture in the literature. In the second chapter of the study, relation between social media and religion is discussed. The last part of the analysis aims to explain, online activities of the community called Sözler Köşkü. An in-depth analysis of the community's online method was carried out by determining the netnography method, one of the qualitative research methods. As a result of the analysis, produce religious content on social media by the community that shows the process of popularizing religion, but it was concluded that it is not fully compatible with the culture industry approach like the Frankfurt School.
