Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to present the differences and similarities by identifying the effects of popular culture on fashion design students and teaching staff.The universe of this research is Gazi University, Faculty of Vocational Education; and the sample is the students and teaching staff of Fashion Design Teaching Department. The study, which has been done in order to look for an answer to the problem of the research, has been performed in two stages as pilot and main. The questionnaire prepared for the pilot practice has been applied to 16% of Gazi University, Faculty of Vocational Education, Fashion Design Teaching Department students, and it has been rearranged and finalized according to the results. The sample group consists of 74% of Gazi University, Faculty of Vocational Education, Fashion Design Teaching Department students and all the teaching staff. The number achieved has been decided to represent the universe.According to results of the research, it has been realized that, in general, popular culture has been influential on the education of the teaching staff and the students of the fashion design teaching department. Since popular culture means generally accepted and short-term innovations, the conscious behavior, up-to-date traces in the topics and desire to lead students to innovations of the teaching staff who participated in this research means that they attach importance to this issue.Keywords: Popular culture, fashion design, daily life habits, clothing habits
