The effect of post activation potential on performance in soccer players

Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study was to examine the effect of Post Activation Potential (PAP) on performance in football players. 22 male football players with at least 5 years football history, average age 18.7±,86 years, height average 175.8±5.9 cm, body weight average 65.7±7.2 kg, body mass index average 21.2±2.1 participated as volunteers to study. Warm-up protocols (control, dynamic, 90° static and 130° static angles) were applied with crosstab method after determining height-weight, body mass index (BMI), 1 maximum repetitions (1 RM) of the athletes. After warming protocols, vertical jump, standing long jump and 10-20-30 m sprint tests were performed. They were given 48 hours rest between each protocol. In the control protocol; 3 minutes of rest after warm-up, in the Dynamic protocol; warm-up, 2 repetitions, 1 RM 90%, 3 minutes rest, Static (90° angle) protocol; warm-up, 2 sec squat 1 RM 90%, 3 min rest, Static (130° angle) protocol; warm-up, 2 sec squat 1 RM 90%, 3 minutes rest were done. After all protocols, vertical jump, long jump and speed (10-20-30 m) test were performed in 1-3-5-7 and 9 minutes, respectively. According to the results of the Shapiro Wilkes W-test, the data was determined to have a normal distribution. Since there are 4 different protocols, Repeated Measurements ANOVA test was applied to determine which protocol the difference originated from and Bonferroni test was applied and the level of significance was accepted as p<0,05. According to the results of Repeated Measurements ANOVA test, there is a significant difference (vertical jump, long jump, 10m, 20m, 30m sprint time) in all measurements made at 1-3-5 and 7 minutes (p <0.05), according to Bonferroni test results, the difference was found to be due to the Dynamic PAP protocol. A statistically significant difference was found between dynamic PAP and control, 90° static and 130° static PAP protocols (p<0,05). As a result; it has been determined that the dynamic PAP warming protocol is a more effective method in terms of PAP formation compared to the control, static 90° and static 130° warming protocols.
