Abstract (EN)

This thesis aims to explain why the social institutions and values need to be rethinked in the age of technology in a non-centercorial way, through the robot characters of science fiction cinema and posthumanism, and it consists of four chapters in the title of "Examination of Posthumanist Values on Robot Concept in Science Fiction Cinema". The "science fiction concept" and "historical development of science fiction", which provide a suitable environment for studying technology and human relations in Chapter I; Followed by "how it shapes in literature and cinema". III. In the chapter, "robot and artificial intelligence technologies," which enable to observe technology and human relations in a cultural perspective, are covered in the historical development process. Then, a review was made of "what we have to do with technology and why we should not ignore it". II. In the chapter, primarily "humanism"; Followed by "anti-humanism" and "post-humanism in cultural studies". Subsequently, he deepened the idea of "posthumanism" in the post-bodily and post-empire, after-power, and post-time-space aspects of the research method. IV. In the chapter, seven films with different themes, which are thought to reflect the human-robot relationship in a historical perspective parallel to the development of technology, have been chosen. These films are Metropolis, Westworld, The Matrix Trilogy, Artificial Intelligence and Her. Selected films were examined by "thematic content analysis method" and "posthumanism" in the context of "body and after self", "post-power" and "after-time" scenes detailed in the third chapter. At the end of the research, starting from the relation between "man and robot" found in science fiction films; Despite rapidly changing and changing living spaces with technology, we have reached the conclusion that "our point of view towards the concept of human being" is a genetic heritage, even transformed into a taboo.
