Özet (EN)

INTRODUCTION AND AIM: Osteoporosis is a disease defined by increased bone fragility due to loss of bone density and deterioration of the microarchitecture structure in its tissue. Our aim with this research is to determine the link between osteoporosis-related factors and the risk of major osteoporotic and hip fractures by conducting a survey in patients whose bone densitometry was measured from postmenopausal women admitted to our hospital. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This research is a cohort retrospective study. The data were obtained using sociodemographic data, osteoporosis risk factors and a questionnaire form created from the parameters included in the FRAX score. RESULTS: The average femoral neck t score was -0,25; the 10-year risk of hip fracture and major osteoporotic fracture were found to be 2,17±4,74 and 11,36±8,15 respectively, using the data obtained from the FRAX score. A negative and weak significance level was found between age and the femoral neck t score. A positive and weak significance level was found between the body mass index and t score of the femoral neck. It was found that the duration and frequency of use of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and stomach protectors posed a risk, while the risk increased at a low level of education. CONCLUSION: There is an important link between some of the risk factors and osteoporosis. In particular, it is important to take into account these effects when using ASA and stomach protectors in patients at risk, and to provide training in terms of osteoporosis to patients in this risk group. We believe that the active operation of preventive medicine in primary care for these and similar diseases will prevent unnecessary health expenditures that will arise in countries and will be instrumental in providing a healthier life.
