Abstract (EN)
The concepts of Modernism and Postmodernism, which are generally used together, actually express two different types of thinking that defend diametrically opposite views. In the philosophy of Modernism that emerged with the thesis of "being human-oriented"; Concepts such as rationalism, capitalism and positivism are defended. Postmodernist thought, which thinks that all these concepts have begun to harm people in the course of time, is located exactly against the aforementioned concepts. Modernism basically focuses on one truth and one meaning that can be reached. Postmodernism, on the other hand, follows multiple real and multiple philosophies of meanings instead of a single concept. Modernism defends general acceptances in line with the universal unity philosophy it adopts. In postmodernism, the generalization is rejected and pluralism is supported. In the early days of modernism everyone adopted; Concepts such as democracy, secularism, technology and human rights came to the fore and became the most important facts of the trend. Postmodernism claims that all these concepts have been misused over time, bringing more harm than good and enslaving people. Modernists took an approach away from politics due to the conditions and perspectives of the period. Postmodernists, on the other hand, could not remain indifferent to the politics that spread to the masses in parallel with the period they were in and the developing world. Postmodernists have been more involved in politics than modernists. It is thought that the concepts of ethics and morality in modernism should be the same for the whole world. Postmodernism, on the other hand, follows an opposing attitude to common concepts. Pluralism is preferred in every sense. Modernism advocates a national and universal understanding of culture. Postmodernism has the opposite point of view. Modernism's perspective on the past is more shallow. In postmodernism, on the other hand, the past is important and the idea of keeping the past alive in line with its own facts is advocated. These two structures of thought, which were founded by great philosophers such as Kant and Nietzsche, have evolved over time and have survived to the present day as currents that still continue their influence. Giorgio Morandi and William Bailey, who existed in these two periods, have an exemplary quality today as well as their perspective on art and their way of editing painting composition. Artists have been influenced by many movements during their active periods such as cubism, metaphysical art and minimalism. But mainly Minimalist effects are seen. While Morandi takes its place among the artists that can be taken as an example in the Minimalism movement, Bailey took the Minimalists as an example. It is the impression of supporting the abstract with the concrete concept of the paintings, which are the most striking common features of the paintings by considering their interconnected points and contrasts. This situation, while still preserving its seriousness, has prepared a ground for discussion. The reality of the outside world, which is revealed in the fiction of painting composition, saw abstract art and realism as a field open to discussion and accepted it as a method. Adopting a subjective approach to addressing existing objective structures also reveals the integrative concerns of solution-based proposals. In this respect, the part-whole relationship that symbolizes the society-individual relationship also highlights its purpose. Many meanings can be deduced from the physical properties of the items that minimalists take refuge in. Glass, mirror, pvc, paper, cardboard, wood, mdf, formica etc. When the objects come together and approach them with an aesthetic concern, there is a possibility that many things to say will come to light. What is mostly meant to be expressed in works of art is hidden within what the work is made of. This latent power essentially includes a reminder of the formal qualities of ordinary objects at hand, temporality, functionality, integrity, the relationship or non-relation it establishes with other elements. As a result; The most important point in the holistic structure is that the relationship between the work of art and the object of art can also be established by the audience.
