Abstract (EN)

It is estimated that the first arrival of the Jews to this geography, which includes the province of Canaan, that is, the coastal parts of Syria and the lands of Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine, was in the 2nd millennium BC. However, the mass arrival of Jews in the region after the Roman period coincided with the 19th century. Seeing these lands as promised to them by the Jews gave the region a sacred perspective. In these periods, when the effects of Political Zionism began to be seen, the immigration of Jews to these lands brought about a series of problems between the Arab states and the Jews. Arab states were the dominant power in the region. This process, which continued with the Balfour Declaration published on November 2, 1917, became much more severe with the declaration of the state of Israel in 1948, and these problems continued to increase day by day. There have been many wars between Israel and Arab states, which follow an aggressive foreign policy due to security concerns in the region. As a result of the Israeli-Arab war in 1967, Israel occupied the Golan Heights, which is located within the territory of Syria and is in a very important position both geostrategically and geopolitically. This occupation became an important problem with the declaration of Israel's annexation of the region in 1982 and this problem still continues today. Both its underground and aboveground riches and its dominating position in the region make the Golan Heights very important, and therefore the Golan Heights are an indispensable area for Israel. Based on these features, the current potential of the Golan Heights and their geopolitical and geostrategic features were addressed in this study and the importance they have for Israel and the countries of the region was discussed.
