Abstract (EN)
Among the renewable energy sources that aim to minimize environmental pollution and support policies such as zero carbon, wind energy is an unlimited resource on which research needs to increase. Wind turbines with different energy generation systems are classified according to the operating speed of the generators in this study. These are fixed speed, limited variable speed and variable speed systems. This classification method has a great effect on determining the maximum power consumption. Variable speed systems which are good option for power markets due to it has fairly large range of speed variations were chosen in the study. Complex structured double fed induction generator (DFIG) with high advantages is used in variable speed systems. Various methods are available in the literature for DFIG, which is sensitive to balanced and unbalanced faults. In this paper, an Active Crowbar Filter System is investigated to achieve assessment about behavior of DFIG at the fault moments of designated busses. The active crowbar with a capacitor added to the traditional crowbar is placed in the system to protect the converter from high current ripples in cases of power quality events. Power quality events are limited to voltage swell and voltage sag and their effects on the system are examined.
