Özet (EN)
AbstractTo determine the factors that prevents the Type 2 diabetes improvementin the prediabetic patients by emphasizing the adherence to the lifestyle changesDr. Deniz Besler, DEÜTF, DEÜTF Department of Family Practice, Inciralti / Izmir.Approximately 90% of the diabetic cases are type 2 diabetes, which can be prevented.Permanent behaviour changes prevents the improvement of diabetes for the patients in theprediabetic process. In this thesis, it has been emphasized that Family Physicians? approachcan increase the adaptation to the recommended lifestyle which has been proved to prevent ordelay type 2 diabetes.Hence, an open randomized controlled study has been planned. We obtained thedetailed histories of the patients that are in line with our criteria and who have accepted toparticipate in our study. The patients are examined and given a survey regarding theirlifestyle, eating, sleeping and pyhsical activity habits. The patients are observed for a 6 months? time of period. The control group is onlyobserved by endocrinology polyclinics. Experiment group is given an additional healthsupport in line with the discipline of family medicine. Not only a broad knowledge of diabetesis conveyed to the experimental group, but also a diet and exercise programme as well as thenecessary changes in their lifestyles are also periodically emphasized during the on-goinginterviews.The experiment group have gained more physical activity habit, compared to thecontrol group and additionally observed to have a positive improvement in their eating habit. In the experiment group there have been approximately 4,11 kg weight loss and a decrease of1,54 kg/m² in BMI (Body Mass Index) which is statistically significant (Asymp. Sig.(2-tailed) = 0.001). In the control group no weight loss has been observed, on the contrary theyhave gained approximately 0,36 kg and there occured 0,15 kg/m² increase in BMI. In theexperiment group, 6,14 mg/dl decrease in the fasting blood glucose level was obtained whichseems to be meaningful in terms of our study ( p=0,035).In the experiment group, the target of adherence in the change of lifestyle has beenreached significantly. Due to the limited time of the study fasting blood glucose level was notexpected to be in such a decreasing trend as well as the loss of weight and a decrease in theBMI. Thanks to the family practiotioner?s approach, the targets are more easily and quicklyachieved.Key Words: Prediabetes, lifestyle changes, family practitioner
