Determination of seismic performance factors for precast concrete frame type structures

Abstract (EN)

Precast buildings, which increased in our country with the development of industry, suffered great damage and collapsed after the 1998 Adana-Ceyhan, 1999 Kocaeli and Düzce earthquakes, especially due to insufficient connection details. The correct selection and design of each connection in precast structures greatly affects the seismic performance and economy of the structure. Therefore, in precast structures, moment resisting connections are generally preferred in order to transfer moment between elements and increase strength and lateral stiffness. In this study, numerical models established with the lumped plasticity approach to simulate the behavior of emulative-welded (MAB3) column-beam connection consisting of emulative and mechanical (welded) components commonly applied in Turkey under cyclic loads have been compared with interior connection test. Non-linear analyses methods determine the performances of earthquake-affected buildings. Earthquake recordings were scaled to make spectral agreement considering target design spectrum by SeismoMatch program. Within the scope of this study, 3-storey, 7-span frame model selected from an existing marketplace project designed in accordance with the 2007 Earthquake Code. Seismic load reduction factors were investigated and compared with the values in TBDY (2018) with incremental dynamic analysis of frame model by SeismoStruct program.
