Abstract (EN)

The long-term exposure of the electromagnetic field is starting from intrauterine life. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effects of prenatal exposure, newborn infants' kidneys, and the use of protective clothing as a measure against this exposure, with 900 MHz being the most used mobile phone frequency. There are 5 groups of 3 pregnant rats in this study. From these groups, the electromagnetic field (EMA), EMA+protective fabric (EMA+F) groups were exposed to the 900 MHz electromagnetic field from the first days of their pregnancy. Control, OF (only fabric), sham groups were kept away from the electromagnetic range, and only the control group was not placed in the rat holders. Immediately after birth, infants were sacrificed and kidney tissues were taken to separate right and left. Following the histological procedures, Bowman capsule and glomerular diameter, proximal tubule internal diameter, cortex and medulla thickness and basal membrane continuity in the kidney were determined by histometric methods using Hematoxylin-eosin, Periodic Acid-Shiff and Masson's Tricrom staining. As a result of this study, glomerular basement membrane persistence in the EMA group was observed lower than in EMA+C, Sham, Control and OFgroups. Glomerular inner diameter was similar in all groups, but outer diameter was wider in EMA group than in all other groups.. At the end of this study, it was determined that EMA had significant changes in renal morphology of prenatal exposed rats. It was observed that the protective fabric used in the experiment reduced the damage caused by the electromagnetic field.
