Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to examine the polymorphic structures of the Calpastatin (CAST) and Myostatin (MSTN) gene loci in the Pırlak breed, which is one of our local sheep breeds that are intensively bred in the Mediterranean Region. MspI polymorphism for the CAST gene region and HaeIII polymorphism for the MSTN gene region were investigated using the PCR-RFLP method in a total of 181 head of Pırlak sheep raised in different herds within the scope of the "Public Breeding of Pırlak Sheep I" sub-project carried out in Antalya province. In the study, MM (0.220), MN (0.696) and NN (0.082) genotypes were determined in the CAST locus. In the current population, the M allele frequency was found to be 0.569 and the N allele frequency was 0.431. The HaeIII polymorphism of the MSTN locus was found to be monomorphic and all individuals had the mm genotype. While the observed heterozygosity (Ho) value in this population, where deviation from the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium was determined in terms of the CAST gene, was calculated as 0.696, the expected heterozygosity (He) value was calculated as 0.490.
