Abstract (EN)

Effects Of Probiotic Containing Agents On Plaque Growth; Clinical Analysis The aim of this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was to evaulate the effects of probiotic agents on plaque regrowth in gin-givitis patients. After baseline clinical measurements (pocket depth, attachment loss, gingival recession, plaque index, gingival index, bleeding on pro¬bing, tongue index) 40 gingivitis patients (aged between 18-30) were ran¬domized in test group (20 patients- probiotic toothbrush cleaner, probiotic toothpaste and probiotic mouth wash) and control group (20 patients- placebo toothbrush cleaner, placebo toothpaste, placebo mouthwash). 3 weeks after scaling and root planning, the patients were asked to use the products for 8 weeks. All clinical measurements repeated at 3rd and 11th weeks. The results of this study showed that the test group had less plaque index, gingival index, bleeding on probing scores (although not statisti-cally significant) compared to the controls. Key Words: Gingivitis, plaque, periodontal treatment, probiotic
