Studyi̇ng the level of communi̇cati̇on talent of coaches worki̇ng i̇n professi̇onal team sports

The aim of the study is to examine the level of communication skills of trainers of professional team sports in Elazığ and its correlation with several variables. The target population of the study includes 11 professional teams (football, basketball, volleyball and handball) that take part in Elazığ province in 2013-2014 season and the trainers and athletes of these teams. 209 out of 240 athletes were reached and applied the survey. In this study, in which the communication skills of trainers were evaluated, a survey was used as a data collection tool. The survey composes of two sections. In the first section, there are questions to identify the demographical characteristics of the participants; in the second section communication skills scale that was developed by İ. Yılmaz (2008) was used (1). The data were computerized, evaluated with SPSS package program and p<0.05 was got as the level of significance. As a result, it was concluded that athletes thought their trainers' level of communication skills was high. On the basis of branches, volleyball trainer took the first place and basketball trainer took the last place. With the analyses made, significant differences were encountered between age, sex, training year with the trainer, sports age and trainers' level of communication skills.
