The comparison of the effects of fentanyl, dexmedetomidine or midazolam associated with propofol induction on the quality of LMA insertionAim: To compare the effects of quality of LMA insertion with propofol induction associted with fentanyl, dexmedetomidine or midazolam.Background (Introduction): The most suitable anesthesic method for LMA insertion has not been defined yet.Propofol is one of the most oftenly used anesthesic agent for this purpose.Researches on coinduction agents are still going on.Method: Forty five patients in ASA I-II, who were scheduled for minor elective surgery were included into this study.Patients were divided into three groups:Group D:Propofol-Dexmedetomidine, Group F:Propofol-Fentanyl, Group M: Propofol-Midazolam.Standart monitarization (noninvaziv blood pressure, Hb oxygen saturation, electrocardiography) were applied to all patients.Grour D patients were given 0,5 µg?kg-1 (iv) dexmedetomidine, Group F patients were given 1 µg?kg-1 (iv) fentanyl and Group M patients were administered 0.04 mg?kg-1 midazolam. Dexmedetomidine, fentanyl or midazolam were diluted to 10 ml 0,9 % NaCl and infused over 5 minutes. Thirty seconds after infusion of these medications, 2 mg?kg-1 iv propofol was given and eyelash reflex checked.At the same time 50 % O2, 50 % NO2, 1 MAC sevoflurane were administered, and the patient ventilated with mask.After eyelash reflex recorded, LMA was inserted.If sedation was inadequate additional dose propofol (0,5 mg?kg-1) was administered. Tramadol was given for postoperative analgesia.Five minutes before the end of the operations anesthesia was ceased.Conclusion : In conclusion this study showed that dexmedetomidine(0,5 µg?kg-1), fentanyl (1 µg?kg-1) and midazolam (0,04 mg?kg-1) with propofol (2 mg?kg-1) and 1 MAC sevoflurane have similar effects on LMA insertion in patients undergoing elective minor surgery.Key words: laryngeal mask airway, dexmedetomidine, propofol, fentanyl, midazolam
