Özet (EN)

The aim of the study was to determine the patient group with the highest increase in suicide risk due to childhood traumas and the correlation between childhood trauma and suicide tendencies in frequently observed psychiatric disorders. A total of 300 patients took part in the study who applied to Gaziantep Dr. Ersin Aslan Education and Research Hospital during the dates of 16.09.2019-30.01.2020 for outpatient and inpatient treatment with 60 schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorder patients, 60 bipolar and related disorder patients, 60 depression disorder patients, 60 anxiety disorder patients and 60 substance abuse and addiction related disorders. Personal Information Form, Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) and Suicide Probability Scale (SPS) were used for data collection. The data were analyzed via IBM SPSS 24.0 software using Shaphiro wilk, Mann whitney u and Kruskal Wallis tests. The scale total scores of the patients were determined as; CTQ 55.96 ± 11.43, SPS 81.29 ± 13.49. A positive and moderate correlation was determined between the CTQ total score and SPS total score of the patients (p<0.05). It was observed based on a diagnostic assessment of the groups that the anxiety disorder group has the highest r square value. Childhood Trauma Questionnaire explained 59.6 % of the variation in the suicide scale score in this group. Anxiety disorder was followed respectively by depression disorder, substance related disorder and addiction disorder, bipolar disorder. Whereas no correlation was determined between childhood traumas and suicide probability in the schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorder patient group. In conclusion, the results of the study support the findings that childhood traumas do not predict the risk of suicide in psychotic disorders that develop on an organic framework and that they are significant predictors in cases of anxiety disorders resulting from psychosocial factors. It is especially suggested to assess exposure to traumas during childhood and to plan psychosocial support interventions in order to prevent suicide attempts in anxiety disorders.
