Installation of academic psychological capital in the context of Psychological Counseling and Guidance undergraduate students

In this study, it was aimed to establish the Academic Psychological Capital Scale studied with the students of the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department and to determine the variables that predict this scale. In the collection of data, a 51-item question pool was created by scanning the literature. It was presented to the expert opinion of 6 expert lecturers and necessary corrections were made. For this purpose, the first study group determined by convenient sampling method consists of 317 undergraduate students from the Psychological Counseling and Guidance (PDR) undergraduate programs from three universities. After the factor analysis of the data obtained from the first study group was made confirmatory factor analysis was applied to a total of 214 students from Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University's PCG undergraduate students. In the developed scale, explanatory factor analysis of 51 questions in the question pool was made and the number of questions was reduced to 20. These 20 questions constitute 4 sub-dimensions: self-efficacy, hope, optimism and resilience. Chi-square and degrees of freedom values obtained as a result of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were found to be χ2= 381.944, (sd= 166, p<.01) and a ratio of χ2/sd= 2.30 was obtained. As a result of CFA, the fit values were found to be SRMR= 0.055. Two types of cluster analysis and one logistic regression analysis were used to determine the variables that predicted the level of this scale. As a result of the research, it was determined that the PDR Undergraduate Students living in the city center and in the upper socio-economic level have a high APS level. The result has been interpreted as indicating a significant contribution to the formation of academic psychological capital, which refers to individuals' efforts to cope with challenges and strive for well-being in their inner world.
