Abstract (EN)

In the globalizing world, sanitary are counted among the service groups that continuously renew itself. In these sanitary where interaction with people is frequently established, after the employees have begun to work, breaking the promises made to them leads to problems in bilateral relations. According to both national and international literature breaking the promises is called as violation of the psychological contract. In the light of this information the aim of the study is to determine the role of burnout in the relationship between physicians' and nurses' violation of psychological agreement and intention to quit working. The importance of the research was determined as the high turnover rate in the public hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health, the increase in the number of per capita patients and the intention of employees to leave as a result of this climate. Since there is no study which evaluates the role of burnout in the relationship between psychological contract violation and intention to quit, especially in the national literature and health sector; This study is thought to contribute to the literature. In line with the aforementioned problem, data were collected from 219 healthcare workers in Izmir Tepecik Training and Research Hospital using the questionnaire technique. 121 are doctors and 98 are nurses among the 219 employees. Personal Information Form, Maslach Burnout Inventory, Psychological Contract Violation Scale and Intention to Leave Inventory were used as data collection tools. SPSS 21.0 and Lisrel 8.0 software were used for the analysis of the data: factor, correlation, regression and structural equation model analyses were applied. As a result of the study; significant and positive relationships were found between psychological contract violation and intention to quit, between psychological contract violation and emotional exhaustion, which is the sub-dimension of burnout scale, and between burnout and intention to quit. It is also seen that emotional burnout, which is the sub-dimension of burnout, has a partial mediating role in the relationship between psychological contract violation and intention to quit.
