Abstract (EN)
This study attempts to examine the North Caucasus Region and the autonomous Republic of Dagestan, which is the ethnically most diverse republic, from the geopolitical and geostrategical perspectives. It also provides a historical evaluation of the current problems in the region tracing back to much earlier. The fight for liberation has also been elaborated in details by mentioning the power struggles faced in the North Caucasus at different periods of time, as such fight has a great valve on the Political structure of the territory. In the modern world, where constantly changing global situations, the study additionaly mentions about Russian Federation with regard to the matter of security in the region. This attempt assesses both how the current ongoing issves effect Russian Federation and how the Political strategies of Russia influences the region back, as well. The study concludes with suggestions to the problems of the North Caucasus. Since Russian Federation started to show it self as physically in the ragion, the North Caucasus was a field of conflict in the same time it was a sensitive area with securty concerns.
