Evaluation of Serum Amyloid Levels with Hematological and Biochemical Parameters in Cats with Pyometra In this present study, it was aimed to examine the effectiveness of hematological and biochemical parameters, which are frequently used for diagnostic purposes, and serum amyloid A (SAA), an acute phase protein, in cases of pyometra. It was checked whether there was any correlation between the clinically most preferred parameters and SAA, and statistical significance levels were determined. Studies on pyometra cases in cats are quite limited. For this reason, the subject of the research was the examples of cats. In the study, blood samples from 14 cats of different breeds, ages and weights were used. Cats were divided into 2 groups. Group I included 7 cats, who had no signs of disease on clinical examination and were considered healthy with blood parameters within normal limits, and were brought to the clinic for routine ovariohysterectomy (OVH) operation; Group II consisted of 7 cats diagnosed as pyometra after detailed clinical examination, hematological analyzes and ultrasonographic examinations. When the hematological parameters of the healthy and pyometra cats in the study group were evaluated, a statistically significant difference was found between the leukocyte (WBC), neutrophil (NEU) and monocyte (MON) values. These values of Group II were found to be significantly higher than the values of Group I (p<0.001). Among the other blood parameters examined, eosinophil (EOS), lymphocyte (LYM), erythrocyte (RBC), hemoglobin (HGB), mean red blood cell volume (MCV), corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), hematocrit (HCT) and platelet (PLT) When the two groups were compared, no significant difference was found (p>0.05). When the organ functions of the cats in the study group were examined and the changes in the biochemistry parameters between the groups were evaluated, there was no statistical difference between alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), creatinine (CRE), total protein (TP), total bilirubin (TBI), glucose (GLU) values. There was a significant difference (p<0.001). A statistically significant difference was found between alkaline phosphatase (ALP), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT) (p<0.05). In the study, when the serum amyloid A value was compared between the groups, it was concluded that the SAA value of the pyometra group was significantly higher than the healthy group (p<0.001). According to the data obtained as a result of the research, it was emphasized that the evaluation of acute phase proteins together in addition to hematological and biochemical analyzes has an important role in early diagnosis and treatment.
