Determination of organizational commitment levels of health personnel working in radiation field: The case of Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital

ABSTRACT DETERMINATION OF ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT LEVELS OF HEALTH PERSONNEL WORKING IN RADIATION FIELD: THE CASE OF KARTAL DR. LÜTFİ KIRDAR CITY HOSPITAL This study aims to determine the organizational commitment levels of health personnel working in radiation areas. Radiology clinics are units that require knowledge, experience, and skills, and are riskier than other hospital departments in terms of working conditions. Employee commitment to the institution is an important factor that directly affects the quality of health services provided. In large urban hospitals, the education level, knowledge, and communication skills of employees are critical factors in determining service quality. The study was conducted at Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital between March 6, 2024, and April 30, 2024, and included health personnel working in radiation areas who agreed to participate. Data were collected through face-to-face surveys using the 18-item "Organizational Commitment Scale" developed by Meyer and Allen and adapted to Turkish by Abidin Dağlı et al. (2018), along with a 13-item demographic information form prepared by the researcher, and were analyzed using SPSS 26. According to the findings, the organizational commitment level of health personnel working in radiation areas was generally intermediate. The data collected regarding differences in organizational commitment based on marital status, title, years of service were found to have significant impact to organizational commitment, but no significant differences were found in terms of demographic variables. It is recommended that supporting training and development processes and implementing improvement measures to boost motivation may further enhance employee organizational commitment.
