Field research about investigation of awareness levelconcerning safety culture in radiation applications

Education, which is an important way to increase the level of competence for protecting workers from radiation in radiation applications, is also one of the basic elements in the formation of a safety culture and radiation protection culture, which is a part of the management system for radiation safety. The aim of radiation protection training for those working with radiation that will provide all the requirements to ensure radiation safety in radiation applications, is to provide the acquisition of skills to protect themselves, the public and the environment. By instilling the awareness that radiation protection is a national responsibility in the corporate culture will enable the best possible protection from radiation. For this reason, it is important to carry out radiation protection educations and to create original training programs suitable for the purpose and participant profile. In addition, information and example saboutaccidents in radiation applications in order to understand therisks of radiation within the scope of the thesis have given, their causes, effects and results have examined. Finally, in the present study, a survey has applied to radiation workers who we reemployed in randomly selected institution soperating in the fields of nuclear medicine and industrial radiography in different regions and cities in our country, and other employees from different occupational groups of the same institution. It is aimed tor eveal the current understanding of safety culture within the organization in order to contribute to the studies about improvement of the safety culture. The most important out put obtained as a result of thestudy is to improve the pilot edquestionnaire, to develop the radiation protection and safety culture approaches of the users in the field and to increase etheir awareness, and to includeleader shiptraining and psychological safetytopics in theexisting training program in order to improve the leadership and interdisciplinary cooperation of theemployees
