Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, natural and mixed convection created by influence of a heater and awindow in a cavity are studied numerically.A two dimensional and three dimensional enclosure having a square cross-sectioncontains a heater built into one wall and a window above the heater. The other walls areinsulated adiabatically and air input and discharge is allowed through rectangular vents. The effect of Rayleigh number on the natural and mixed convection is studied. Theanalyzed flow fields in the study are discretised with the Gambit programme. After, thesemodels are transferred to Fluent programme and boundary conditions are given; the equationsof continuity, momentum and energy are solved numerically. In turbulence flow solutions, thestandard K-ε model is used. Solutions are obtained in steady state conditions with the finitevolume method. Results of the solutions are presented by using isothermal and streamfunction curves both in laminar and turbulent flow in two and three dimensional cavities.
